Work, photographed as it actually looked
Water Heaters
On a water heater, look for straight and properly supported connections, a correctly sized T and P discharge line run to a safe place, and a drain pan where one is required.

Tankless Installations
On a tankless install, look for proper venting run to the correct clearance, a clean gas supply line, and the unit mounted level with clearance for service.
Sewer Line Repair and Replacement
On a sewer line replacement, look for pipe bedded properly, correct fall so the line keeps moving, clean connections at the joints, and a clean-out where one belongs.

Tunneling Under Slabs
On a tunneling job, look for the line reached without breaking the floor, the access kept as small as the job allows, and the floor left intact above.
Leak Detection and Slab Leak Repair
On a slab leak repair, look for the leak located before the floor is opened, minimal access where the repair is made, and the line repaired cleanly at the source.
Repiping
On a repipe, look for new pipe run clean and supported at the right intervals, no kinks, proper connections, and the wall left ready for the finish.
Gas Lines
On a gas line, look for pipe run to the appliance cleanly, properly supported, pressure-tested, and a shut-off where one belongs.

New Construction Rough-In
On a rough-in, look for pipe laid out to the slab pour, sleeves at the right spots, and the layout ready for the inspection before the concrete goes down.

Remodel Plumbing
On a remodel, look for clean tie-ins to the existing lines, re-routing where the new layout calls for it, and the work done to the current code.
Water Softeners and Filtration
On a softener or filtration install, look for the unit sized to the water and the home, clean connections, and a bypass so the unit can be serviced.

Well Pressure Tanks
On a pressure tank, look for the tank sized to the pump, proper pressure switch and gauge, and clean connections that keep water moving to the house.
Commercial Work
On commercial work, look for fixtures and lines set to code, grease-line work where required, and the permit kept current so the business stays up to code.

The Truck and the Shop
On the truck, look for the RMP license number and company name on both sides, in letters at least two inches tall, in a contrasting colour. That is what the law requires.
